Using Check-Ins with inReach Devices

One of the primary functions of the GeoPro system is automated check-ins.  GeoPro offers two types of check-in systems for inReach device users: Standard Check-in or Monitoring. Here are the differences between the two options:

Standard Check-ins

  • Check-in times can be set to specific times or intervals
  • Interval check-ins begin at the top or bottom of the hour
  • Check-in times are static based on the predefined start and end times
  • Suitable for users working set schedules

Monitoring (Contact GeoPro Support to enable this feature)

  • Only allows for interval based check-ins
  • Monitor check-ins are on a rolling timer, based on when the monitoring session is started.
    • Example: Device user is set to a 2 hour Monitoring interval. The device user starts Monitoring from the inReach device at 9:43 am. The inReach device will prompted the user to check-in at 11:43 am. The inReach device will continue to operate on a two-hour interval until Monitoring is ended from the inReach device.
  • Suitable for users that do not work set schedules and require flexibility

Note:

  • For those using Standard Check-ins, the administrator must first create and assign them to users.
  • For those using Monitoring, the administrator must first set a monitoring interval and monitoring buffer by selecting the device from the device list, selecting Configure followed by Advanced.
  • The inReach device must be synced to ensure that the end user will see the proper menu options when navigating to the Presets menu on the inReach device.

Once the above administrator steps have been completed, the device user will perform the actions below to start a check-in session, perform a check-in, and stop check-ins for the day.

Starting a Check-in Session

1. Power on the inReach device

2. Navigate to Presets then select it with the ✓ button

3. Select Start Check-In or Begin Monitoring with the ✓  button

The inReach device will then send the message to the network. It is important to make sure the device has a clear view of the sky to transmit.

Performing a Check-in

1. The inReach device will receive an alert from the GeoPro web app when it is time to check-in

2. Navigate to Presets then select it with the ✓  button

3. Navigate to Check-In then select it with the ✓  button

The inReach device will then send the message to the network. It is important to make sure the device has a clear view of the sky to transmit.

Ending a Check-in Session

1. The inReach device will receive an alert from the GeoPro service when it is time to check-in

2. Navigate to Presets then select it with the ✓  button

3. Navigate to Stop Check-In or End Monitoring then select it with the ✓  button

The inReach device will then send the message to the network. It is important to make sure the device has a clear view of the sky to transmit.
